Project
Overview
Park City, in conjunction with H.W. Lochner and
Fehr and Peers, is currently producing a corridor
and pedestrianization plan for Bonanza Drive. The
20 year corridor plan will build on related studies
undertaken within the City (including the Park
City Walkability Study) and will recommend phased
roadway improvements to meet future travel needs
along Bonanza Drive. It will also address modes
of transportation including bicyclists, pedestrians,
and transit users and will incorporate comments
received via the extensive public involvement approach
that has been designed for the project. The goal
of the corridor plan is to provide a transportation
facility that complements the surroundings and
is an asset to the community.
Major tasks include:
Solicitation of public input on needs/problems
and potential solutions for the project via a number
of ways including project comment booths, an interactive
website and online comment form and a public open
house meeting.
Evaluation of bicycle and pedestrian needs through
collection of traffic, bicycle and pedestrian
data at key locations throughout the study area.
The evaluation will determine whether there are
sufficient opportunities for bicycles/pedestrians
to cross Bonanza Drive and will recommend whether
a pedestrian signal/tunnel is appropriate at
the Bonanza Drive/Rail Trail intersection.
Identification of key environmental resources
within the study area that will need to be considered
as part of environmental documentation undertaken
in the future.
Development of
recommendations for immediate bicycle and pedestrian
improvements which fit within
Park City's budget of $1.8 million (this
money is already allocated and does not come from
the proposed $15 million bond which will be decided
upon in November).
Development of a 20-year corridor plan for Bonanza
Drive which recommends phased roadway improvements
to meet future travel demand. In addition to addressing
pedestrian needs, the plan will consider intersection
types, future traffic lanes, and bus stops. It
will also recommend criteria for the Maintenance-of-Traffic
Plan during the construction of the proposed water
line.
